Open Vault to Specific Folder

I'm not entirely sure this is possible but I have a request from a department.

They keep an Access database of different documents and are wanting to be able to open Vault to a specific folder.  They want it to function similar to the "Send File as Link" command for files.  They know the path of the folder, so they simply want to open Vault to that location with VBA or something along those lines, trying to remove a few clicks along the way.

Am I correct in thinking this is not possible?

Hello, knoskins!

Do you want to open Vault  via the shortcut directly to the folder or the feature "Send Folder as Link" like "Send File as Link"? Thanks!

Regards,

Alexander

I believe that is exactly what they are wanting.  The ability to click a Hyperlink and have Vault open to that folder.

Hi,

The Vault Explorer "Copy Hyperlink" command works by generating a URL to a specific web service method on the Vault Server that creates an ACR file. It’s a custom file format that is registered to be opened using Vault Explorer. When Vault Explorer opens an ACR file, it will ask the user to authenticate and then redirect the view to select the entity specified in the ACR file. ACR files do not work for folders. Currently, they can only be created for files, change orders, and items. (The use of ACR files is not part of the of the Vault API).

Maybe using the thin client could be a solution. You could start with the code for Hyperlink Maestro and edit it to generate a hyperlink for a folder in the thin client.

Thanks,

Wayne
