RENAME ITEMS

RENAME ITEMS

MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO RENAME PRODUCT STRUCTURE ITEMS / ITEMS THAT ARE USED FOR ORGANISATIONAL PURPOSES THAT ARENT GENERATED IN CAD BY SELECTING THE DETAILS TAB, OR CLICKING THE THREE DOTS.  CURTRENTLY, IF SOMETHING IS NOT A CAD DOCUMENT ( LIKE A PRODUCT STRUCTURE ITEM ) IN UPCHAIN, THERE IS NO WAY TO CORRECT A MISPELLING OF THE ITEM NAME. IT MUST BE REMOVED AND A NEW ONE CREATED, OR IF A PRODUCT STRUCTURE ITEM IS CHANGED IN THE REAL WORLD,,, NO WAY TO RENAME IT.  THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY YOU CAN. BUT,,, YOU CANT

Hi @wbarnardGTEV5,

You should be able to rename product structure items the same way that you rename normal items.  If you select the item in the right pane of the BOM and select the small pencil icon in the pop-out pane, you can adjust the name as seen below:

After you've changed the name, you can click the save icon and it will check the item back in.  If the PSI is already released, you will have to return it to a development state before adjusting the name.

@wbarnardGTEV5 - Do you happen to have your 'Item Name' attribute mapped via CAD?  Any attributes that are mapped as a 'Read' attribute from a CAD file won't allow you to change them in the Web-Application.  If you're looking to change it around quickly, you could remove the attribute mapping for a second, change the name, and then re-enable the attribute.  It's definitely a workaround, but Upchain doesn't currently support read/write mapping (which is something I'm hoping for in the future) so it's what we're stuck with.

Status changed to: Archived

If you have mapped the Item Name to be read out of a CAD file, then you cannot change it on the web.
