Part Insertion Via Upchain Add-In

Part Insertion Via Upchain Add-In

It would be really convenient to be able to right click an existing part and have an "insert part" option while using the Upchain add-in inside SolidWorks. This option would make modeling quicker, cleaner, and prevent anyone from having to open the part, insert the part into your assembly, then close that part window.

Hi @awintzJZYHF ,

Thanks for your idea and sorry for the delay in reply. Today when you do "Advanced Search" - you have option to "Insert" the search result as shown in the following image. Have you tried that and does that help?Advanced Search-Insert.jpg

Thank you for the reply @Senthil_Kumar,

That option does work whenever I used the "Advanced Search" option, so thank you for the added option to use that. I would still love to have the option if I've already got what I need opened in "My Workspace" window or a project window on the right hand side, it would be time saving for me to be able to insert the part directly from there as opposed to having to search for it first.

It would also to be beneficial to be able to control the positioning of the inserted part instead of the part getting sent to the origin of the assembly as a default setting (which isn't a terrible option just not convenient depending on the assembly), similar to the way that Solidworks allows you to control the insertion of a part.

I appreciate your time! Thank you.

Thank you @awintzJZYHF for that information. Agree that having a command in the context menu of workspace will be really beneficial. Let me see how this can be improved. Thanks again.

Hi,

It would be nice if you could bring this ability in Quick Search results too. If I had the item number of the item i wanted to insert into the assembly, it would be a lot quicker to search for the item through Quick Search and insert it from there, rather than navigating through ProjectBOM or using Advanced search to insert it.
