Multiple Drawing Check Out Process

Currently when an item with multiple drawings is checked out I do not get any prompts/options to select which drawing(s) to check out.

The following example item has a CAD file as well as two Drawings:

I don't get an option to choose which drawings to check out:

Resulting in all files checked out:

I have also had this happen where only one drawing is checked out.

I would appreciate a dialog that lets the user choose if they want too check out the drawings and if so which drawings to check out. This would clarify process and reduce the creation of unneeded drawing versions.

If I have understood how Upchain handles items and CAD, here is why:
Upchain never checks out just the part or drawing. it checks out the item and all CAD files attached to that item, drawing or part. 
And does the number of versions matter?, these are just historic timestamps to go back to if needed. If not, you can just leave them there and never care about them again if you don't want to. 
I may not understand the issue or your motivation why you want this, so please enlighten me if I have missed something important here.
