Buying a 3 D scanner for first time. Is having a turntable a good idea, or can the item be scanned easily without one, any tips!

I'm buying soon my first 3 D scanner. 

Does anyone have any advice about buying a turntable too, or are they unnecessary when making the scan of an object.

Just replying to my own post for the thumbs up viewers, I haven't bought scanner as yet as I'm holding onto my money until one is completely necessary. Plus there is an order of priority of buying items like the definite importance of buying a Resin Printer for the intricate accurate side of my models which so far my current Sceoan Windstorm isn't quite capable of doing although the major structural components in my design should be fine with the likes of pla filament.... and getting down to the nitty gritty of setting the 3d printer efficiently and getting to grips with Orca slicer is all good fun.....

Hey,

I think a good turntable will make quite a difference. Machining is all about stable and accurate machine advance rates, and I assume that will be the case in scanning something too.

Having a turntable can definitely help with 3D scanning, especially if you’re working with small/medium objects and doing it regularly. It simplifies capturing all angles without manually rotating the object many times. 3D Scan Forum +2 Original Prusa 3D Printers +2 However — it’s not always essential. If your setup is for larger items, or you only scan occasionally, you might be better off investing instead in better scan optics, lighting, or software. Without those, a turntable doesn’t solve all issues. If you tell me the type of objects you’ll scan (size, material, how often) and your budget, I can help you decide whether to include a turntable now or wait.
