What is the cummunication   protocol that must be in iot device ..

What is the specification that must be in the sensors that can't be compatible without it?

Mqtt?post? How do I know I'm buying the right sensor

A few other links that I think might be useful is the Tandem help page that talks about key value pairs and the format of the JSON file. The other is a video that walks through that process using postman that should also give you a sense of what is happening to make that connection.
