Pull object to me with laser pointer and joystick?

In the Oculus Home environment from the Beta released last year, you can grab objects that are across the room (out of reach) by pointing the controller at it, pressing and holding one of the Touch controller buttons to pick it up, and simultaneously pulling back on the Touch joystick to pull it towards you.

This seems like it should be possible in Stingray with ray-casting to highlight dynamic actors.

Yes?

Any suggestions or tutorials on this type of action?

Thanks!

Yes I think it's all possible. Here's a few tutorial that can help you getting started:

Creating a laser pointer:

Select objects with Raycast: (the tutorial use the mouse, but you can do the same logic with the laser pointer.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_niElj-YUU

Move the object with a jowstick: (the tutorial use a character, but it could be the selected unit)

Also, there is a custum node in the Oculus template called "Set Unit Highlight" that you can use to highlight a unit.

Paul's tutorials are incredible...

Only problem is that his Lua scripts are no longer posted for download with the video. Do you have them?

Thanks.

So I've tried to follow the same Level flow steps to make the laser pointer work for the Oculus Rift, however there are some differences in the nodes that I haven't been able to resolve. To start with, I'm not clear on the which name to use to identify the left and right controllers. Has anyone setup a laser pointer functionality for the Oculus Touch and can point out what needs to change from Paul's tutorials?

You just need to use the Oculus Controller Pose node, and the Controller Type are TouchRight or TouchLeft.
