Hi Game geeks,

Brief: I have done a complete previz in maya and need to import in Stingray.

I have a Maya scene with animated cameras ., i managed to import animation of the charactes and can view only in small view port(Preview) to the right side and in AC viewport

My question is

How will i get animated character in the main viewport

How can i get link maya camera animation to stingray camera and view through it or import Camera like in any other 3D format and see through it.

NOTE: Since its Previs i have 10 Cameras.

Thanks

Saikrishnan

Hello saikrishnan.92,

Please check out the learning content video tutorials and documentation, there is a list here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/stingray/learning-content-for-stingray/td-p/5777858

There are vids on how to get cameras and how to do animation and character set up as well as sending from Maya to Stingray. 🙂

Hi Saikrishnan,

All you need to do is select your scene/cameras and export as FBX, or send to Stingray via the plugin. You may want to send each camera one at a time for ease of use in your scene. Once the cameras are in Stingray, put them in your scene via the drag and drop from the asset browser. You can get the camera you like, switch between them and play animations on cameras in your level flow. Let me know if you need further assistance. 🙂

I'm having problems with max camera import as well. It doesn't seem to read the camera as a camera but as an object. It doesn't have the same camera settings in the properties as maya does, from what I have seen in the video tutorials anyway.

Can someone at least verify if this is currenty possible with 3DS max.

I'll keep trying if I am just missing something. Looks like it's fine in Maya.

hi @SteveDFThorne, please make sure you have the camera check box checked when you import your fbx. If that is still not working, please attach your fbx here for us to look at.

I just found the problem. You cannot use the new "Physical Cameras" in Max. I changed it to a standard max camera and it worked.

Is this a glitch?

I've attached the fbx psychical camera export via the stingray menu in max. You should notice that it doesn't actually come in as a camera that can be selected for the view change from perspective while the old max camera does.
