Rectangle Marquee selection bug in Softimage 2015 R2-SP2

Has anyone come accross this in Softimage 2015 R2-SP2;

Whenever I press T to tag points, using the rectangle marquee selection tool always selects ALL the points, even if I only drag over a single point.

Have tried playing with slection modes and preferences but nothing fixes it.

Don't have the same issue with lasso selection - is this a bug?
