Tool curser goes negative

When using a tool, the curser turns negative and quits. How do you recover?

Can you take a picture of the issue and send it to us?   I am unclear on the exact issue that you are having....

After an hour of using every tool, the "no" symbol appears and all tools
are dead. I was trying to correct the spelling in the Text layer. See the
symbol above the painting in the attached file. Duane

I saved the painting, logged off and returned.  The "no" symbol only appears on the Text layer.  Duane
