i am having major problems with v 2015 and presumably the same thing would be an issue in v2016, with Job Manager.  It is causing multiple failures of runs and I do not have a consistent work around yet.  Could we simply disable it?

One can not disable the Job manager. If you are having issues with the job manager, feel free to contact the support team and they will be happy to work with you to correct the issue with your system.

gestech,

There are many glitches with the job manager in V2015. The R1 release helped to fix some of those so download that if you haven't.

With the release of V2015 you are no longer able to solve files on that are located on a server, all files must be moved locally to your computer and solved there. There are also numurus issues if you are not the local admin, these may be worked around, but it is very difficult to do, you'll have to get with Adesk support to get these figured out.

All in all V2015 was a flop and had many issues, Adesk has supposidly fixed some of these issues with the V2016 release, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I would love to be able to disable this "feature".  It is extremely unstable (even at R1) and adds no value to my workflow.

Job manager continues to cause problems, in v 2016 also.   About 9 of 10 attempted "execute analysis" tries always fail.  I use three methods to start an analyis, from solver manager, from the button on top, and also right click in the tree and execute a run.  Sometimes one of these methods actually starts and complets a run, about 1 in 10 attempts.  Cleaning out failed runs from JM when it reaches abou 15 - 20 failures is also necessary.  Lately, a new problem has happened:  Attempts to start an analysis from the menu do not result in even a failed run, just sits there.  The introduction of JM to the package has caused nothing but trouble and an enormous waste of time as each successul run is preceeded by many "analysis failed" notices and rising levels of frustration.

For longer analysis, Job Manager crashes every single time for me.  Fortunately, the analysis continues to run in the background so I still get results.  I've spent enough time with support to realize there's not an easy fix.

I would agree - in particular for older machines.  I suspect the problem is related to graphics drivers.  I have read somewhere that some Autodesk products including AutoCAD stopped supporting some older graphics drivers and forced hardward updates.  (Don't quote me on this but it fits my experience).   Maybe around 2013/14?  Both 2015 and 2016 Sim Mech were extremely unstable on my PC using an ATI Mobility Radeon.  I tried everything including reformating and reinstalling Windows 7.  They would work for a while and give up.  I went back to Sim Mech 2014 which ran fine.

Sim Mech 2016 runs perfectly with a new PC using an Nvidia 970 graphic card.
