Run-time error '13' Type mismatch

I am using  Simulation Mechanical 2014, and trying to run a transient heat transfer using loads from file. When tried to check the model or use loads from file Run time error '13' Type mismatch is popping. I have checked the forum for the similar error but the error still exists. I have created a new model the problem still exists.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this error.

Hi @Anonymous

Just to be clear, you get the same error message (13 Type mismatch) when you do a "Check Model" and when you try to access the "Loads from File" dialog. Is that correct?

My guess is that the filename used for the "Loads from File" has some character in its name that the software is not handling. For example, there could be a comma or a non-English character. The problem could be in the filename itself or in one of the folders in which the model and/or loads from file is saved. Is this a possibility?

The next item is whether the problem occurs if you re-build the model but do not use the Loads from File. Does the Check Model work properly? If the Check Model works, but then does not work if you add the Loads from File, that indicates some type of problem with the Loads from file. The other possibility is that the format of the file is not correct. You can check this by opening the "Loads from File" file using Notepad. Does Notepad show it properly?

Hello John.

I tried it on a different model. Building the same model from scratch. Changed the names to a 4 letter characters. Notepad shows it properly. Moved the file to a different directory. The error is still the same.

Hi all,

I spoke with Uday. The file he was trying to load into the "Loads from File" was accidentally a binary file. Since the "Loads from File" can only read text files, it was not able to read the input correctly, so it was causing the runtime error.
