I couldn't able to run the analysis. "Analysis Failed"

I have checked for the mechanical job server to run.

What else I could try to make the analysis to run.

Hi derla. Welcome to the forums.

A quick Google search for "simulation mechanical analysis failed" turned up about 599000 results, so you will need to be a little more specific to narrow down the solution. Smiley Wink

For example:

  1. What analysis type are you performing?
  2. What version of Simulation Mechanical are you using?
  3. Is the model on a network hard drive or your local hard drive?
  4. Is the model stored in a path that is very long (hundreds of characters) or short (fewer than 50 characters)?
  5. Is the model stored in a path that includes non-English characters?
  6. Does the analysis produce any text in the log files? If so, what warnings or errors are given?
  7. What version of Windows are you using?
  8. What antivirus software are you using?
  9. Is the problem isolated to one model, or do all analyses fail?

The first thing that I would try is saving the model to a very simple folder directly under the C: drive (or 😧 drive if you have one). For example, save the file as C:\test\box.fem. (Do not save the model in a folder on the desktop since the name of the desktop is really C:\users\your name which could be related to the problem\test\box.fem.)

Thank you for your response. Sorry for not giving the clear information.

Analysis type performing: Static stress with linear material models
Version: 2016
Model: network hard drive
Path: Not sure how to find the stored path
Error warnings: nothing
Result: Analysis failed
Windows: Windows 7 Enterprise
Antivirus software: Mc Afee
Some of the analysis working and some of them not

Finally, the solution you mentioned about saving the file in the C-drive worked out for me.

Let me know if I have to be aware of any other information for future reference.

Thank you,

Hi Dola,

I think that saving the model to the local hard drive instead of the network is the "solution" in your case, not necessarily the length of the path where the model is stored. Version 2017 (service pack 1) of Simulation Mechanical and the updated job manager do have some enhancements for network operation, but network operation is always taxing on the analysis (because of the amount of data transferred), so it is better to run the analysis on the local hard drive when possible.

Give it a try for a while to see if the local solve works for all models.

No network problem as I'm running on a local drive. My problem is a simulation will only run if the model is copied to a folder titled "autosimtutorials_2012_models" that is at the same level of my project folders. This started several months ago; I used to be able to click "Simulation" from Inventor 2017 while in a project location and SimMech 2017 opens, the model appears, I constrain and load it and run the analysis. Why would that stop working?

Where is the setting that tells SimMech to put its FEM and filename.ds_data folder under the current Inventor project folder so that the simulation will run?

Hi @Anonymous

The simulation file (.fem) should be located in the same folder as the Inventor file. There is no option to change this. Are you saying that the .fem file is put into a different folder?

  1. What is the complete path of the simulation file, starting from the drive (such as C:\) through the filename.ds_data folder. My guess is that the full path is either too long or contains some foreign character that is causing a problem.
  2. What is the complete path to the "autosimtutorials_2012_models" folder? (How many characters is that?)
  3. If you create a folder named "C:\FEA models\some project name fewer than 30 characters", the analysis will run from here. Correct?
