What are AY and AZ in the Bar Properties table

I just want to ask  what is AY and AY in table properties in the bar tab.

They are shear area in Y and Z directions respectively.

This is my first time hear about shear area the properties shown above its for column 1000 mm x 1000 mm  

How this values calculated.
