Software freezes and crashes during provided RC design

Anonymous

Hi there,

As the title suggests, the software allows me to pull in design elements into the provided reinforcement module. However, when I attempt to run the calculation, the software just freezes and then crashes. If select the generate drawings option before running the calculation, then the windows installer dialog box opens, nothing is installed but then the software crashes.

Any suggestions as to why this occurs? I saw a similar post which suggests it may have something to do with having Revit on the machine, does that mean I can only run RC calculations with Revit uninstalled?

Hi @Anonymous

Could you try to uninstall and install Robot again?

Hi @Artur.Kosakowski

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling this several times to no avail. Is this a common problem for RC design? I will mention that I have revit 2015 and 2016 on my machine, can this cause a problem?

Hope you can help because I am required to produce some outputs from Robot urgently.

Hi @Anonymous

I'm not sure what the exact reason for such program behavior is and this is not a common situation. Can you determine the program the Windows installer is launched for? If for Revit you may try to repair its installation or reinstall it.

You may also try to rename your CfgUsr folder first as well as delete Windows temporary file s(%temp% folder) and check if this makes any difference.

Hi @Artur.Kosakowski

I am not sure how to determine what the installer is launched for because when the installer is active, nothing is actually launched and after say 10mins of allowing this to proceed, when I try to close or cancel the installer then robot crashes. Do you know of another way I can check what the installer is attempting to launch? Is it also worth me sending through the report through the dialog box that pops up when Robot crashes?

Regards

Hi @Anonymous

Yes, please send it and let me know when it has been sent. Please enter your email address as used for your forum user name in its field so that it can be found.

Anyway if you are able to run the repair of Revit installations I'd suggest you to try them.

I have had my IT department have a look at this issue and they have resolved by going through a clean uninstall i.e. finding all the related registry key and residual files and then re-installing.

Thanks for your suggestions.
