Hello.
I've sucessfully created an opening on a shell along with the opening stiffener (basically the panel around the opening).
The problem is that the mesh seems to be a low quality one. Any ideas on how you can create a good quality mesh?
Try to decrease FE size or define it this way: cylinder containing two parts - one big, another - strip \ extruded arc a little bit bigger then openinig.
Hello Mr. Gaweda.
Well, decreasing the FE size doesn't help. And i'm afraid I didn't quite understand the second part of your sugestion.. could you explain it a little bit clearer for me?
Thanks!
Good Morning @Rafal.Gaweda
I have a query somewhat related to the thread above.
Context of Problem
Maintenance is required inside a steel tank (8thick steel shell). In order to gain access the following is required:
1 - Weld steel structure surrounding tank (ie - Weld the PFC bands to tank shell)
2 - Place 12 jacks around circumference of tank that are connected to this band
3 - Cut base of tank (at tank floor) and jack tank up approx. 0.7m
4 - Replace jacks (one-by-one) with 168CHS members and weld in place + install baseplate (See image 2)
5 - Cut hole in tank to allow access for maintenance inside tank
I am trying to provide an opening to the shell as indicated in attached image. I have tried everything but i am unable to get the opening within the shell. Opening = 2.0m H by 1.5m wide (approx)
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
For your information the Shell has been modelled as the following:
- Circle created on tank floor plane
- extrusion of circle (14.3m) in increments on 100mm (ie -143mm increments)
- discretization of 120 (ie - every 3 degrees of circle)
Please see model attached (Robot 2022 Version)
*** I have tried uploading model but this error is appearing ***
Hi @harrison.gloyne ,
zip the model first
