Robot .str file

Hello,

I have a project completed on Robot, saved as an .rtd. I then saved it as an .str file and tried to reopen. Errors came up including section property and support errors. These all seem to be fine in the .rtd file. Is there any advice on how to deal with errors on an .str file for Robot?

Hi @Anonymous

No, actually from AccelorMittal which has to be defined in  the default Job Preferences. Now SHS 250, SHS 90 and SHS 50?

Hi @Anonymous

What are the sections assigned to these bars:

 4045 12136 12137 12386 12387 12403 23318 23319

and what section database are they from?

All the issues with reading the str file are caused by section and material names not matching what is set in Job Preferences.

Attached is the original rtd file. I extracted the srt file from this, when I imported it back as an rtd file, errors appeared, although no changes were made to the str file.

Hi @Anonymous

Four points:

1. You cannot use section name aliases as they will not be recognized while opening a str file as they no longer match the section names in the section databases

2. All material names used in a str file should have their matches in Material defined in Job Preferences

3. The single line in a str file should niot be longer that 400 characters

4. The str format will not store properties of panels (there is no corresponding syntax)

Thanks for that,

I changed the default database from UK sections to Corus, this corrected the errors which the SHS, UKB and UKC sections. The error then came up for the PFC sections, noting that it is UKPFC which are available in the Corus database, I then changed all PFC to UKPFC through the srt file, these then still came up as an error.

Other then the error with the PFC was warnings stating SHS not defined and (Manual:IV.3.4.2.1) was quoted. Is there a location where I can find this manual to see what the issue might be ?

Hi @Anonymous

If you want to open a str file then:

1. The section label should be the same as the default section name in the database

section label.JPG

2. The section database the profiles were taken from has to be declared in Job Preferences by default
