Reinforced concrete design update

Good day all

I have allready posted a question on South African Rebar, stating that Robot cannot handle it. I was wondering where to post a suggesstion to Autodesk that in their next release they enable Robot to design according to Eurocode the rebar for a concrete structure, using any local (e.g. South African) rebar database.

This is analogous to the steel design, where the South African steel section database may be used in a design according to Eurocode.

Warm regards

It is actually possible (it is also possible to use rebars that are created by a user with new grades and diameters). The points is somewhere else I think - you would like to have bar shapes governed by the selected rebar database whereas it depends on the selected design code instead . Due to this you can use your own or modified existing reinforcement database.

Thank you for the speedy reply..

I am sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to tell me. How do I create or modify a rebar database?

I also cannot acces the attachment. (EC2 with SA rebar.PNG)

Regards

Thanks again, but I did have these settings. My only problem is that the shape code is does not correspond to the south african shape codes, they remain British. I will try all the other methods so long

I really appreciate your swift help

Have you checked the solution proposed by gustavo.c.vasconcellos in his last post  inside your previous topic http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Robot-Structural/South-African-Rebar/td-p/3324941 ?

Yes I am just trying to figure out which is the UK template...

RBCR-044.dwt. The number of  the template corresponds to the given country calling code. Isn't it obvious? Smiley Wink

Changing the template does not work...

Sigh...

I am trying to export to Revit, but everytime i say integrate, it tells me it needs revit 2012? Which I have ...

Revit encounters a problem when we want to transfer the rebar created in Robot.

Is there a way to modify the shape code database?

Good day Gustavo

I appreciate your help and concern, but I cannot seem to get around it. Please see the attachment showing the error I encounter in Structural Detailing. Please could you try it with the settings I have and let me know.

I also tried the Revit maneuver, but it also failed.

I tried your (Gustavo's) idea on a 64 bit OS, but it gave me the error shown in the attachment.

Do you have any more ideas? Brain storms?

I can only think of modifying the British shape code database in both Structural Detailing and Robot to match the South African database.

I'm very sorry but if that was the option I would propose this solution in my first answer. These shape codes are hard coded and not possible to be edited in the way you would like to change them. As I mentioned earlier the only workaround I can think of is the export via Revit or manual edition of shape codes in tables created in ASD.

Good day Artur

I tried exporting a schedule to Revit, but within this export from Robot to Revit it gave me an error. The only way to get the shape codes correct on the final drawing is to edit them manually on ASD, which is not ideal.

However, in my exploration of Robot I found:

The 32 bit architecture exports the rebar to ASD in a much better presentation (using the drop down menu - reinforcement).

Exporting slab rebar on both the 32 and 64 bit architectures we obtain untidy drawings.

Will Autodesk be able to correct these problems by the next release, as I have found these to be the only problems with the software. Everything else works great!

Do you mean that you tried to export model (structure) from Robot  with reinforcement generated in the RC Beams and Column modules?

Yes... See message 12...

I have exported the model to ASD with British Rebar and this had worked fine....  So I assume South African rebar is not well established in Robot.

Other comments:

The steel design and detailing with ASD works perfect.

A South African wind load code does not exist in Robot.

The South African code combinations freezes in Automatic Combinations.

Will the next release resolve these problems?

Regards

Yes... See message 12...

Could you send me Robot model with generated reinforcement of beams and columns that you attempted to export to Revit please?

Other comments:

A South African wind load code does not exist in Robot. - not planned for v.2013.

The South African code combinations freezes in Automatic Combinations.

Could you send the model where it happens and describe your actions so that I'm able to follow them please?
