Reinforced concrete design update

Good day all

I have allready posted a question on South African Rebar, stating that Robot cannot handle it. I was wondering where to post a suggesstion to Autodesk that in their next release they enable Robot to design according to Eurocode the rebar for a concrete structure, using any local (e.g. South African) rebar database.

This is analogous to the steel design, where the South African steel section database may be used in a design according to Eurocode.

Warm regards

I cannot attach the slab as it is too large

Please use the simply supported beam example

I cannot attach the slab I was experimenting with (it is too big, and when I used 7zip to compress it these forums do not accept .7zip extension), thus, if you want I can email it to you.

With regards to the South African load combinations, when I set the code combination to SA, in ULS Robot gives me SLS load factors. You may try it in the other analysis I sent to you.

Warm regards

I have made a quick test with the beam you file you sent on W7 64bit and I can't see any problems (see the attached picture). Which version of REX have you got installed  - is it 2012Q3?

For slab drawing issue - the drawing you made screen capture of - is it how it looks in Robot or after being opened in ASD ?

Load factors - please create a small model with e.g. one bar and few load cases and generate combinations. Then send me this model and screen captures that illustrate what is wrong and write what the values should in your opinion be.

Wow! That is great. Now I know there is a solution.

I do not know what version of REX I am using, how do I check it? (SHY-What is it?)

The slab drawing is a final drawing in ASD. (Maybe I must get my REX correct first)

Will send you the load combination model a little later

REX doesn't support slabs. You should generate drawing in Robot, save rtd and open the drawing in ASD in the way shown on the attached picture indicating the Robot file you saved.

Good day Artur

I have installed the update for REX, the latest service pack for ASD (SP3) and Robot (SP5). But, for some reason Revit still gives me an error (AREX) on W7 64.

I also ran a system cleanup, I cleared the CfgUsr folder and I disabled my firewall, but to no avail. I dont know what magic you used to get the rebar through to Revit Smiley Wink

Is there any setting you think I should change in my programs or windows?

Regards

I have done a quick test on the same model using entirely British codes and rebar, however Revit still encounters the same problem. I am certain there is some setting on my computer that needs to be changed ( this is too frustrating....)

Dear Artur

I have discovered that the W7 32, with the REX update, has given me the correct rebar and shape codes for beams and columns in ASD!!!!

Thanks

For the 64 bit OS i am re-downloading the REX and the update, then I will re-install it and let you know.

As for slab detailing, do you think there is any way to import the correct shape codes into ASD from Robot?? As we cannot export the rebar from Robot to ASD via Revit.

Warm regards

If you want to design according to one code and have shape codes from another code then currently the only solution is to change them manually in ASD.
