Hi, please advise how do you define physically, negative value of elastic coefficient at support properties.

Do you mean to obtain the reaction acting in the direction of displacement?

My results are correct for coefficients as per figure below. However, I am not sure how to explain it. In node of applied elastic support I have now displacements at expected values and reaction zero forces as intended. But I would like to understand math behind negative value of coefficient. Please help.

What do you mean by "My results are correct for coefficients as per figure below. "?

In case of negative stiffness coefficients in supports Robot assumes that they are incorrect and the analysis is performed assuming zero stiffness.

Negative stiffness is assumed by Robot as incorrect because it corresponds to unphysical behaviour where for instance downwards load causes upwards displacement.

That is why I asked in my first post whether you want to obtain such behaviour.

You are correct.

I thought negative value will go with direction as per tensions or compression of the spring with k stiffness.

It is wrong, then.

I will delete this thread so no one will misinterpret.

if you want your support to work in only one direction you need to set uplift direction

I also was curious about this.. We never had negative values on supports. unless it is run as linear equation.
