Japanese characters do not display properly

How do you display columns in plan.  I have a sail structure that I am modeling in building.  The columns show in the 3D view but not the plan views.  This seems to be a recent problem that I have not had in the past.

Define Axis in the bottom and top level of the columns then go to plan and choose that desired bottom or top level you will see them .

Could you make a screen capture showing what you can see and what you would expect to see? Could you explain what is the 'link' between the column view and Japanese characters?

The supports display but not the columns.

Where do I find the DEEP 3D view.  When i click on project 3D view in xy plane the columns show but not when I am just viewing the xy plane

Mind that the actual sections of the columns are small so may be hard to be spotted therefore you may switch on display of their symbols as well.
