Different results between (Building Design) template and (Frame 3D) template

Dear all,

I have a simple mezzanine to model. I used (Building Design) template then (frame 3D) template just to compare results. I assigned a live load equal to (4.79) KN/m^2 to both models, however, a huge difference in results ( reactions, deformation, combination, etc) appears, especially that one comes from the live load. I did many checks to ensure applying the same load value on the two models but everything is right. /see attachments/

Pls, could any explain what is going on and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance

Hi @Anonymous

Models are different

In Building template model - slab is defined as meshed orthotropic plate which has non zero dead load and non zero stiffness.

In 3D slab template - slab is not defined - load is transferred to beams by weightless one -way cladding with no stiffness.

3D  frame template  does not support slabs. Slabs can be used in Shell model template or Building model template

Dear @Krzysztof_Wasik,

I still don't understand why there is a big difference when showing reactions coming from Live load in both models. Although models are different, there is a slight difference when comparing reactions resulted from dead load, but a huge difference coming from the live load.

I mean the ratio of distributing loads to the supports in both templates is different, especially in the case of the Live load which is double approximately.

Hi I'n building model słab has non zero stiffness while in frame 3d three is no słab defined ,Cladding is geometrical object  Ii is used for load transfer to brama only  .Difference in fotce distribution is  caused  for live loads by different objects stiffness

Hi  Try to define very small słab thickness in building model .Results for live load should be similar

So, in our case of a deck with one-way orientation, which model of both comes to the reality most ??

note:

In our case, there are no welded studs to fix the deck slab on the beams.

Actually, I need to keep the deck slab in the current thickness and other predefined parameters which is exactly what i need to execute on-site. So, I can't suppose a zero thickness.

Hi @Anonymous

If you need to take into account deck stiffness, building model is better

thank you. I just wanna transfer deck loads to the supporting beams. Then, I prefer to use the (3D frame )template.

I highly appreciate your response.
