Deflection of beam

Hi there,

 

Is it possible in ROBOT to define a beam which are separated by several nodes that could figure out the actual deflection?

Hi @kchen4X2U6 ,

 

There are several ways to check deflection. For this simply supported beam with a uniform load:

1. Default settings:

2. By adjusting the number of division points in the table view. By default, Robot reports results only at the beginning and end of the element.

3. Using Detail Analysis menu without changing the number of division points also may lead to mistake:

4. You can generate nodes along the beam using division of the bar element:

Thank you Romanic,

 

I have never thought there are different tools to show the deflection.

 

I have another question about the code check for the deflection. For example, there is a beam (from Node 13 to Node 38) as following that is separated by several notes (secondary beams). Is there a way to define the actual beam from Node 13 to Node 38 and get the reasonable deflection to span ratio?

If your beam is separated by several members, you can use superbars.
