Hello.

Can I submit bars with analysis of cross section consisting of double angle? How can I do this (for all codes)?

Two ways : in Robot  and in Robot Section Builder:

Rafal Gaweda.

This consideration it's been done. The problema happens when I ask the examination of the structure, but the program claims it can not do the verification (attached my model).

As shown below:

Steel design for these sections is not implemented for ASD and LRFD codes.
Use Eurocode

Double Angle braces are quite common here in the US.  Please implement the design portion of this.  I don't see this as being overly complicated to implement.

Hi @Anonymous

How would you like to design them? Do you need to consider buckling of a single angle (acting separately) between battens?

Ideally, it would be nice to have built into the section properties of the built up section any attachment between the members that would reduce the buckling length.  If none are present and the built up section is just a two separate angles, then the capacity of the built up brace would be that of the two separate angles, each sharing the load.

I also have the same problem. 😕

I doubt that it is really a code limitation.

Hi @Anonymous and @Anonymous

If for a selected design code an indicated compound section type is not supported create it in the Section Builder module instead assigning the appropriate section type. For a section like on the attached pictures just make sure that you have braces spaced close enough to prevent buckling of a single angle and design a member for bucklig of the two angles combined.

Mr Artur.Kosakowski thank you a lot .. you are always in high response to our queries Smiley Happy, actually it was a frequent problem whenever I define a composite section but eventually it is done. Heart
