(API) Macro: Creation of quasi T & L RC beams

Hi,

I developed small macro with custom functions which will help to create quasi T & L r.c. beams in accordance with the Artur's proposal mentioned in threads:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Robot-Structural-Analysis/T-slab/m-p/3185418

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Robot-Structural-Analysis/Beam-offsets/m-p/3332921

Just input data in green cells and select the desired type of section to generate it in Robot. A section will be created with the special name. For example:

What do you mean? This is creating a rectangular beam.

Look at message 9 to get a "manual" on how it works.

HI,

are you using same approximation in raft slab middle/edge beams?

Regards!

Hi

A portion of slab may be considered as flange for beams since they are monolithic and slab bars pass through beam.

Be careful this T & L beam are only considered in positive moment regions (near the middle of the span) of the beams since the slab is at top and is in compression.

In negative moment regions (near the supports) the beam returns to rectangular and T & L beams are not applicable since the slab is on top and near the supports the top will be in tension. So the macro should account for this and the suggested approach by Artur shouldn't be used for the entire span.

Hi

I'm afraid my last post isn't clear to you!

Hi @HoshangMustafa ,

The macro is only for creating of the modified sections. The engineer is fully responsible for the decision where and when to use these sections.

Hi

So the engineer should divide each segment of the beam between two supports into three parts (two end parts for negative and one middle part for positive bending moment) and use the macro for the middle part only. Correct?

Hi @HoshangMustafa ,

Personally I used this approach for the whole beam length.

Hi

The macro can be automated to consider T & L beam in positive moment regions only, isn't it?
