Wow... I figured I'd edit Revit's weld symbol to look more like ours by changing the size of the flag, the all around circle and the fillet triangles. Not so easy...
The flag was easy enough, but now the solid fill does not show. For a while it showed up in 3 places.
When I change the size of the circle, the end of the leader moves.
When I open the Fillet triangle to edit, nothing shows up. No triangle.
I've not even tried any of the other welds (flush, field, back, etc.)
I'm trying to convince a Project Manager that Revit is the way to go, but I know he will want most of the drawing to look like our AutoCAD drawings and the Weld symbol is one of my last challenges.
This weld family is different than most of the other families I've tackled and I don't see much help on line about it.
Any tips?

Can you share a file please?
Attached is a .rvt file for you to check out. The family is above the dashed line, and our AutoCAD blocks are below the dashed line. We're sticking with Arial for the font in Revit. So, this is what I have for now.
I was able to finally get the fillet and flag close to the right size, but whenever I make the all around (circle) smaller, the arrow moves as shown in my first post. I also bet they will want the overall length of the symbol shorter. I've not tried that yet.
Thanks for your time!
How small do you need the circle to be? Right now it has a radius of 3/32"
Our AutoCAD drawings have it as 3/64" radius.
The circle is the same size as the text... 3/32" diameter.
And the circle needs to be 3/64"
Apologies for the delay!
Are you able to change the circle to that smaller size without the tail of the leader moving? That's the issue I'm having.
The only solution that I can see is to drag the middle blue dot on the leader up to the base of the field weld symbol. I have tried to re-create the symbol from scratch, but as soon as I add the all round symbol to the end of the base line, the leader just goes crazy.
@LyleHardin !! HOLD THE PRESSES!! GOT IT!!!!
Go into the Weld Symbol All Around family. Change the existing circle to Invisible Line. Create a visible concentric circle with the correct dimension. Load it into the Weld Symbol family, and then into the project.
RVT file attached.
Edit the family, select both all-round circles and click on the small square button to the right of the Visible check box, then select Weld All around from the list of Visibility parameters.
Hi there,
I just recently followed this thread and I tried doing your suggestion of "edit the family, select both all-round circles and click on the small square button to the right of the Visible check box, then select Weld All around from the list of Visibility parameters."; however, I can't seem to make the "Weld Symbol-All Around" to be toggled off/on with respect to the left/right side. I managed to edit the "Family Type Parameter" from "Graphics" to "Structural" for its "Visibility" to just match the properties of the "Weld Symbol-Field". I tried to re-load the "Weld Symbol-All Around" and repeated the assigning of visibility parameters but upon being loaded into a project, I still cannot toggle the "Weld Symbol-All Around" to turn off on neither side of the weld symbol. What am I missing to make it work?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the post... I´ve used it metric and imperial scales with excellent results.
How did you manage to edit fillet weld symbol to make it smaller? When I double clicked on it, it open edit family window for Weld Symbol-Fillet.rfa but I saw nothing. It was a blank. Thanks,
When I open the Tail symbol to edit, nothing shows up. There are no lines in the tail symbol, and I also cannot figure out how to get the arrows in accurate locations.
