want to clip view of linked file

Dear all,

Is it possible to only see a part of a linked file: In a project of a office building I have linked a file that shows the installations of the whole building. I am working on a specifik module and only want to see the installation around that area. Can I "clip" what part I want to see of the linked file and exclude the rest? (I know you can clip xrefs in autocad, I hope I can do the same here).

Thnx!

Esther

Accepted solution

couple options....

  • Use a named Scope Box around only the content you want to see and assign it it to your view(s)
  • Use the Crop View option in your view(s)
  • Use a Selection Box and adjust the box around the content you want to see
    • you will have to select the box and Hide in View once you have it where you want

Turn off link in the main view. Create another view with only link and crop it. Place them both on sheet.

Thanks for the fast reply

But I need it when working in 3D views or working in the model. Not for final sheets or prints.

So more like a "section box" specifik for the linked file.

Hi thank you, but this is for 2D views if I am correct? I am looking for a scope box for 3D views. I am fairly new in Revit so correct me if I'm wrong =).

Named Scope boxes are 3D elements and can be used in 2d or 3D views.

THank you for the suggestions but this is not giving what I am looking for unfortunately:
- the selection box crops everything wich I do not want. (I want to crop only IFC's, not entire model)
- crop view ditto problem
- I can not select an IFC to add to a workset for a section box? (I might be doing something wrong)

Hmmmmm... I'm not aware of a way in Revit to only clip one link and not others. all the ways I know are pretty much an all or nothing.
