To the EXTENSION users

d.JPG

I did these columns with extension

What I don't get is why the bars in the columns is being treated indivisually

In the beams if I draw bars they are treated as a set and it shows in the schedule

e.JPG

like you can see, only the bars in the columns are seperated in the schedule

It makes my schedule look long and stupid

I could manage to tag the bars together somehow but now I have to figure out how to make it look simple and nice like mark number 4 and 5

One more thing

Is there anyone who knows how to put the images of the rebar that I drew

Hopefully with the length of each sides

Thank you guys I'm learning a lot from you

Have a nice day

Are you using Revit 2018. if so please share your file. I can help you; or you could uncheck itemize every instance in the schedule "Sorting and Grouping Tab" and see is it helping you.

This link may be helpful for you.

For Rebar shecdule with shape  image please refer to this link.

Thank you for your help

Here is the file I was working on

Things I was trying to do

1. Tagging in the 3D view

2. Schedule with the Shape images

3. Getting  Total weight of each rebars following the mark

   unit weight hd10 0.00056  hd25 0.00398

the Total weight has to be 'Rebar length * Quantity * Unit weight'

So If I uncheck 'Itemize every instance' the schedule does not work like that

I thought it's gonna be easy but it's not haha;; -.-

Now I'm reading the blog you shared

I hope I can learn something from there

Let me know if you find something I was doing wrong in my file thank you

**I downloaded Sofistik application for reinforcement detailing, so it would say something when you open my file just ignore it

1. Tagging in the 3D view

A. You have to lock the 3d view and tag the rebar as usual

2.Schedule with the Shape images

A.Open your rebar shape family from project browser and from type family property you can insert the shape image of each shape separately. or if you prepare a Rebar schedule using sofistick you will automatically get the shape images.

3.Getting  Total weight of each rebars following the mark

Please refer to this thread.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-structure-forum/rebar-schedules-sum/m-p/7344545/highlight/true#...

Please have a look at the attached file. If you have any doubt let me know.

I am glad to know that its helped you.Smiley Happy

You can generally format the Schedule table as shown below.

Rebar Schedule.PNG

Please note that Rebar shape image will be visible only once you put the table on sheet.

For Schedule Font you can follow this step

Schedule font.PNG

Also you try sofistick rebar schedule tutorial from youtube. I believe it is some what good when compared to the default rebar schedule provided by revit

Hey thanks for replying

I just found that there are some missing images in the BS8666 shapecodeimages zip file

How can I get the rest of them?

And yes I know I can get the images from Sofistik but I like the images from you better

g.JPG

and why there are many 'A B C and D' in the schedule?

As you can see, there are two As and Bs with the value

What is different 'Rebar number' and 'Mark' and which one do I need to use?

Sorry for the many questions

My mother said asking questions about things you don't know is not something you need to feel sorry or be shamed

so here I go haha

1) I just found that there are some missing images in the BS8666

A. Could you please give me the shape code of the missing images ?

2) and why there are many 'A B C and D' in the schedule?

A. This is one of the question that I am seeking answer for long time. Basically the revit rebar extension is using its own shared parameter file for calculating that A B C D so on and the Rebar family inside your revit that you can use to place rebar manually is is using another  shared parameter file for calculating A B C D. so until you use the Extension there will be only one A or one B and so on. But once you use extension then rebar in the extension will bring its own A B C D parameter inside the revit. There is a solution to combine this parameter together and can be used as one parameter. But I don't know that method. This is why I am not encouraging the usage of Revit Extension. Always using Manual Rebar Placement. Or you can Hide the unwanted parameter from schedule as I show you. You can check this by simply opening a blank revit project and check how many A B C D s are there in the schedule. then use extension. Then there will be  AA BB CC DD etc.Smiley Frustrated

3)What is different 'Rebar number' and 'Mark' and which one do I need to use?

A.Rebar number is something that revit automatically assigned to each rebar depending upon its length and shape code. ie :- it will provide same rebar number if its shape code and length match together. Mark is some thing that you can provide to uniquely identify your element as in the case of other revit element. You can control the Rebar mark From this dialog box.

Rebar number.PNG

You can see a star right side of the number. It is mentioning that that there is gap in between the number. So you can select remove gap option to make your rebar number in correct order. Also you can controll the rebar numbering sequence as you like by using the Partition. it will be helpful to identify the rebar easily.

4)Sorry for the many questions

My mother said asking questions about things you don't know is not something you need to feel sorry or be shamed.

It is always pleasure to share knowledge each other. So don't feel bothered mate.Smiley Happy

Looks like we are living in a different time world

I live in South Korea

h.JPG

This is what I got after I unzipped

These are only 34 png files

I guess there should be more than 99 images

Today's questions

1. After finishing modeling do I have to pick the images one by one in the shcedule or is there any way I can match automatically?

Now I'm practicing a pretty simple model but If I do the big one, it's gonna be a lot of work I think

2. A B C D from the shape images you shared and A B C D from the revit extension, are they indicating the same side?

Thank you so much for your help

  helping me a lot really

If you don't mind, can you take a video you doing the reinforcement with the file I shared first?

There are only two different types of columns

Q1)

This is what I got after I unzipped, These are only 34 png files.  I guess there should be more than 99 images.

A. This is the default Rebar shapes that were shipped with Revit. if you require any additional shape either you can draw the rebar ior you can make a rebar shape family yourself.

Q2) 1. After finishing modeling do I have to pick the images one by one in the schedule or is there any way I can match automatically?

a). The answer is No. The basic idea is that each rebar shape image is already loaded with shape code. you can download the rebar family from here with shape image.

https://autodesk.box.com/s/3x69rwj8vif5qdquracswev7jubizfhr

if you remove all the rebar family from your project and use this rebar then can automatically populate the rebar shape image in the schedule.

Q3. A B C D from the shape images you shared and A B C D from the revit extension, are they indicating the same side?

A. This controlling by the Rebar Code. So YES. they are the same side.

You can see this video to learn how to  manually put rebar in column

Hii,

I am sorry to say that that method you shown me that is not coorect. you are combining parameter A and B to a. Right ?

Ah,,,yes I did

That looked fine with me

The A an B I combined, when A has value B doesn't and B has value A doesn't

So I thought it's doable

Hi,

it may not be always the case.Smiley Indifferent

I was not talking about the combining parameter in schedule field. combining shared parameter into shared parameter one text file.
