Hello guys, im doing my first steps on revit and currently im creating the symbol standard of my company and im having trouble at the moment of create a new spot elevation family.

The symbol that i need create have a text parameter that should be written by the designer for every instance and i don't know how to create that text parameter. I know that i can create a shared parameter and create a label and associate it but i don't know if create a shared parameter is the proper way bc i will have to create a lot of shared parameter for other symbols of my company.

If i add a new label only let me create shared parameters and doesn't is available the family parameter

If you need the Text Parameter to be called out in other areas of a Project such as Labels/Tags/Schedules/Etc. you need a Shared Parameter.

if you need to create your Shared Parameters that dialogue box allow you to use Select to Choose or Create a Shared Parameter to be used for that Label

Alternatively you could adopt and already defined Parameter for that Family in the list is available such as Comments

I only need the parameter for annotations and sheets.

There is no another label included in the family to be adopted.

Is it possible create a label with a family parameter?.

So the unique solution is create a shared parameter or there is another way?

In theroty then it is shared so probable best using the original suggestion.

In a Generic Annotation you can Add a Family Parameter you could Start with a Level Head Family change the Category to Generic Annotation, Create some Family Parameter's then change back to Level Head

I tried creating a family parameter in the "Generic Annotation" category, i added as label and then i changed it the category to "Level head" but what did happend is that the label that i created is reasigned to a family parameter of the level head category in this case (IFCGuidName).

Can you share it for Review?

When creating the Label Family Parameter did you pick the the Correct format and group?

Thats how i created the parameter under the category of "Generic Annotations"

martin_gallardo5D4AT_0-1732202231736.png

And i can add it as a label (Generic annotation category still)

But then when i switch out to "Level Family", the label that i placed under the (Generic Annotation) changes to following label

This is standard guidance, I missed the cut to clipboard!!!  But even then i think this is still locked down for Spot Elevations!

The Tags you are using a automated so not much flexibility you really should just use Shared Parameter's where only available
