I work for a contractor and need to identify the structural usage of each structural framing member (girder, purlin, joist, etc.) in a structural model provided by a project's EOR. In a perfect world, the EOR's modeler would have assigned the correct usage to each member. I find though that this isn't always the case. I could go through and assign them myself so I can run my analysis, but on a 40-50 story high-rise, that's going to take some time. Is there a way I can filter down to what I'm looking for? Say for girders, I filter down to only those that connect to columns or shear walls, and for joists, only those that connect to girders, etc.? Then I could look for any anomalies, select the rest and assign the proper usage in my copy of the model. I tried looking to set up a filter like that, but am not seeing parameters that resemble what I'm looking for. Or is there another way to have the system assign their usage? Or am I just plain SOL? I'm open to Dynamo solutions as well.
