Revit Template Issues/Questions?

Hello,

Once again I'm back asking a question that is puzzling me. So our company started in Revit 2015 then straight to 2017 version skipping 2016. When we started in 2015 we created a base file, for all our standards so whenever starting a new project they should for the most part be loaded already. But when upgrading to 2017 we had issues with like text being changed or moved. But when 2017 came out it gave us the option to use connections. But if I open or start a project or a template from the general 2017 library I can use the connections with no issue of error messages saying can't connect. Unlike the messages I get in our template file. Assuming this since we upgraded most of our library would this be the issue since it started in 2015?

Though creating a connection in our template we can see the node where the connection should be but the connection itself doesn't appear since the parameters don't meet. So is there a way I can fix this or turn on something in our 2017 template?

if I understand you correctly, connection are not showing- if so then go to the visibility override dialogue box and make some changes it will show.

Change your detail level to fine and the connection will show.

But if you have issues with the connection not working at all then check your sections as some section can only work when the properties shown in the imaged attached is present. if not then change sections and load sections from the 2017 libraries

In addition to jahbuu remarks. If you are talking that text has move this can be correct In 2017 Autodesk changed how text is rendered (see HERE).

This might account for that text has moved. Not sure what you mean about the connections. A screenshot of the situation and a screenhsot of the error might help us deciding what the exact issue is

Besides using services as wetransfer/dropbox also first putting your template it in a zip file can help. The forum only allows certain file types to be uploaded (max about 75 Mb)

So another question that comes up. Why does it make a difference to use the ASIC 14.1 rather then the others? So if you scroll down all the way to use W-Wide Flange rather then clicking on the folder for ASIC?

Unfortunately they were not shipped with Revit but you can create them this way:

Okay one last question. I'm still learning about the connections in revit. But say you want to make your own connection can you from scratch?

You can not make it and add to the list.

But you can make it from scratch

So could you make a video on how to make a connection from scratch?
