Revit IFC Export with User Parameters: Issue with Plate and Bolts

Hello everyone,

I'm working in Revit and trying to export user-defined parameters to an IFC file. I created the DefaultUserDefinedParameterSets.txt file, which works fine for columns and beams. However, when trying to export slabs and bolts, the parameters are not showing up in the IFC file.

I’ve read that others have encountered this issue as well, but I haven’t found a solution yet. Has anyone experienced this problem? What could be causing it, and is there a way to ensure that user parameters for slabs and bolts are correctly exported to the IFC file?

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Does this help as it is based on Custom Parameters?

Certain parameters not exported to IFC from Revit

Thank you for the suggestion! I had already tried using custom parameters earlier, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work for bolts and slabs. The parameters still don’t appear in the IFC export for these elements.

If you have any other suggestions or specific steps, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Could this be where the issue lies?

I recall a similar issue recently and the solution was as follows;

Uninstalling Revit IFC 2025 plug in resolved an issue I was facing.  I have no idea what caused it. (https://up1.autodesk.com/2025/RVT/ADSKIFCExporterHelp_25_2.htm#Install)

Unfortunately, it didn’t work. I am using Revit 2022 for this project. Could it be that it doesn’t work in this version?
