I made some structural columns but when I tried to add them to a grid it's not being picked up by the Grid system.

How do I fix it?

can you add a screen shoot explaining more

when adding a column by grid intersections you must work with STR columns and you pick the type and go to multiple by grid intersections and click on the green finish button

you can use this option once for the grid you can't model 2 columns at the same grid with this option

Thank you sm for the response, Screenshot 2023-11-30 114033.png

I am able to manually place them on the grid itself but It does not let me select the grid to be place automatically.

I would suggest this is either related to the work plane as the Properties Palette and Options Bar do not reflect a typical column insertion reference (as below).

Or the column Family itself as it look like it has a baseplate in the image and may be a level driven family.  Try using a default Revit column Family and see if the Issue persists.
