Revit 2D Drawing

Hello everyone,

I am in need of making Revit sheet drawing similar to Autocad standard drawing. So I have the following doubts:

1. Linetype scaling option for detail lines.

2. Leader line in text end point.

3. Hatch scale while importing cad file to revit

It sounds as though you are trying to make a Revit 2D sheet similar to AutoCAD? Are you try to bring in AutoCAD drawings to Revit?

It sounds as though importing your CAD drawings into Revit drafting views would be a solution. You can control scale, hatch, linetypes too. Then drag your drafting views on to a Revit sheet.

• As a rule of thumb you should almost never explode an autocad drawing in revit. It will really bog down your model. You should LINK the cad file just to be able to trace the geometry. Then remove the link when you are done. This is my preferred method.

• A lot of firms have struggled with trying to make their revit drawings look like their autocad. To do this you will need to do a lot of customization's to revit. This is not a task for a beginner, and even then it won't look 100% identical.

• I have used dynamo to convert autocad drawings to revit. It basically remaps everything to native revit items then deletes out all the junk brought in by exploding (ie. text styles, dim styles, hatch patterns, etc...).

• In conclusion you cannot simply insert an autocad file, explode it and expect it to look like it did in cad. It just won't happen. Take the time to redraw the details. It will be well worth it especially when it comes time to use that detail again on another project. There is a reason these details are in your typical detail library.

Madam,

  I have modeled the structure in Revit as 3D and I have taken the required plan, section, elevation and details. I am trying to make the standards in Revit as standard Autocad template. Most of it has been done except the mentioned problems. I have imported only the title block from Autocad to Revit where also problem exist in hatch scale.

Sir,

Even if I try redraw details in Revit, is there an option for giving scale factor for linetype (dashed lines for example) and if text leader lines can be made similar Autocad text leader line that I have shown.

Scale factor for linetype - firstly, they are called linestyles in Revit. 

Manage>>Additional Settings>>Linestyles

Revit does not scale the linestyle as you are used to in AutoCAD. You can make dash/dot, dash/dash, and dot/dot combinations to create linestyles. Also, you can control the dash size and dash/dot spacing to create the linestyle.

Text Leaders - 

 Manage>>Additional Settings>>Arrowheads

Then when you have added text to your view, select the view and go to Modify. There you will see options to create leaders.
