Revit 2023 Load Autodesk Family issue

Last month my Revit was updated from 2022 to 2023, all was working fine until last week.

Last week when I go to Insert/Load Autodesk Family/ the popup screen fail to load the autodesk families. The popup screen remain blank (waiting to load the families). My colleague who is still on Revit 2022 has no issue with Load Autodesk Family.

I have tried installed 2023 Hotfix, uninstall/reinstall Revit 2023, reinstall 2023 Hotfix. The problem remains.

Please help.

Thank you.

@eugene6X6BD

Welcome to the community!

Kindly clean uninstall the Revit 2023 as per the below Autodesk Knowledge Network article -
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-Com...

And install again.

@eugene6X6BD We are sorry to hear this is happening!

Instead of a clean uninstall/reinstall, can you first try the following:

  1. Close Revit if it is running
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2023\CefCache
  3. Rename the CefCache folder from CefCache to _CefCache
  4. Restart Revit and try Load Autodesk Family to see if it is loading well
  5. If so, zip up that old _CefCache and let us know. I will send you an upload link to upload it to if you are willing to share it so we can narrow down what happened.

If this does not fix the issue, do you know if when Revit 2023 was installed, was Revit 2022 uninstalled? if not, are you able to test Revit 2022 to see if it is having the same issue?

Thanks. Is it possible because my subscription is expiring?

Thanks. Maybe it is because my subscription is expiring. In the process of being renewed....

It works!!! OK how can I upload my "corrupted" cache file to you?

Wonderful! Thank you for trying that, we are happy to hear it got Load Autodesk Family running again. I don't think this could relate to a subscription ending, we think your cache may have been corrupted somehow, and we will investigate to prevent this in the future.  I am sending you a PM with a link to upload that cache to.

I tried the same fix - renaming or even deleting the CefCache folder, but it didn't work.

Yes, I do know I can download and install libraries, but I do NOT want to do that and DO wish to access libraries on the cloud.

I posted another post on the forum for full details of my problem:

Having the same issue. I tried the cache trick above. It acted like it wanted to work properly for about 2 seconds. Its frozen again. Has there been any status updates on how to fix this permanently yet?

This has not been fixed as of yet to my knowledge, however you can find the workaround "fix" here:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/load-autodesk-family-hangs/m-p/11334123/high...
Has to do with the size of the window.... thanks to @mariah.hanning for the tip.

This fixed my issue!  would you like to send me a link to upload this (now renamed) folder?  follup question...  did i need that, or will it work fine now that its renamed?

@drewTPS You will not need that old version of the cache, it will rebuild its self as you work so feel free to delete it from the folder location. If you are able to send me a copy of the bad cache before you delete it completely, that could help us continue to investigate why this issue happens. I'll DM you
