Revit 2017 not plotting detail line types properly

Hi... I have a Revit project which is giving me plotting problems in that detail lines are plotting as solid instead of the linetype displayed.  Has anybody got any idea why ?  I'm aware that Revit has issues plotting some 3d views properly and that in those instances using raster printing is the only option but the lines in this instance are just normal detail lines added to section views so I wouldn't expect this problem and I have never noticed it before.

Just to add....This is happening on two physical printers and "cutepdf" writer also, so I don't think it's one specific printer driver thing.

Any ideas what to check ?

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for taking your time to post this on the forum,

Have you tried reproducing in a new empty project without any template? Or at least one of the default template and not your custom template.

Let's try and rule out user specific settings before moving to troubleshooting the printer drivers.

Best Regards,

Hi... Thanks for the response.  I tried the same detail line in another view and it worked fine so it seems the issue was a setting in the view template I was using so I set up a new view template which worked fine.  Unfortunately I couldn't isolate which specific setting it was that was controlling it so I may get the same issue at some point in the future.  I went through all the obvious view visibility/graphic overrides but couldn't find the rogue setting.

Thank you for getting back to me so promptly,

Have you tried transferring the project standards from another template? Obviously transfer from a template where you don't have the problem 😉

Can you please go back and check the Line Style and see the Line pattern used exist in Line Pattern. Can you also recreate the line pattern and change the same in Line Style and check if this is happening again.

Hi.... Having got rid of this problem once and plotted the drawing correctly, I then noticed today that the problem had returned.  After more investigation it seems that the hidden lines setting generates differing results of the way the linetype prints......

If I have the view set to show hidden lines by discipline, the specific detail lines print correctly (i.e. with dashes etc).

If I have the view set to show all hidden lines, the specific detail lines print as solid.

Not sure why it is behaving this way as don't think I have noticed it before but I will have to see whether I encounter the same problem again in other projects.

have experience this from time to time... got few solution that seems irrelevant to the problem, but it works.

1. Check of you have an element on your model that you override, specially transparency override... reset it.

2. On Property, go to "Show Hidden Lines", make sure you are set to "By Discipline".

Hope this help/ works on your end.

This solution has worked for me, using REVIT 2019.  Thank you, a very frustrating issue resolved
