Overlapping Rebar

Anonymous

I am designing a 70x30m RCC slab with maximum rebar of 12m, using my slab as my reinforcement area. I would like an overlapping of 600mm min between each bar.

How can i set up and control the overlapping of my rebars?

Unfortunately you have to do it yourself.

you can use Area Reinforcement for 12 m long and draw another Area reinforcement for the rest with overlapping.

Also you can use Rebar in slab section view and draw the rebar with overlapping.

That's what i thought. I found quite frustrating that Revit doesn't have this option; lapping rebar is so commonly done when it comes to RC.

I'll probably use one of Autodesk extension that provides this feature.

Thanks for your help anyways.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM YOU HAVE

THERE IS A REVIT APPLICATION NAMED 'SOFISTIK REINFORCEMENT DETAILING'

AND IT HAS 'SPLIT REBARS' FUNCTION

IT WILL SO THAT

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FREE TRAIL THING FROM THE AUTODESK WEBSITE

GOOD LUCK

I've been using SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Detailing 2018 for a while now, but Split Rebars function doesn't seem that helpful. Lots of bugs and errors. I'd recommend using the trail first. Maybe it works just fine with you.

Hi @Anonymous, @Anonymous,

Sofistick could not split rebar inside area reinforcement. You have to remove the area reinforcement system in order to split it using Sofistick.

There is an Idea -  automatic rebar splitting

You can make your own "Fabric Sheet" that does apply to your specs.

You can place them with "Fabric Area" down site is that you have to do it twice 1 for top and 1 for bottom area.

is it easy to use in Naviate Rebar Extension?

I saw that still need to place the rebar by myself and use Naviate rebar extension to fixed the error only

Yes, see this example.

These are the settings for a beam 15m long:

We stopped using split rebars though as it isn't a good workflow.

We do it like in Autodesk Structural Detailing:

We place the rebar with its exact length - cover. Like a bar with length of 24m50 with Ø16 is scheduled with a formula so it gives us the correct length in the BBS: 2x overlap of 80cm: 26m10.

See the difference between modelled length and calculated length:

But in this case making this "trick" you can have the right qto, but what about the rebar cuts in the flield??

what do u mean with rebar cuts in the fields? Can u give an example?

I mean the cuts you need to make in the field when the element is longer
than the bar, and the cuts you need to make to optimize the rebar for waste
reduction.

We simply represent the formula and attach the image to it:

1 bar makes this easier than splitting the bar into 2.
