Modifying a custom steel connection

Hello everyone,

We're trying to create a fin plate connection as shown below (welded plate bolted to perpendicular welded stiffener plate):

For this type of connection, we couldnt find any of the standard connection that satisfy our needs, which is why we chose to go with a complete custom connection.

The issue arises when we try to edit said connection, there seem to be no way to modify bolts or plates without having to break the connection, and even then, you can't name it the same.

Is it possible to more easily modify custom steel connections using the actual edit option?

When using the edit option, everything is grayed out:

Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous

currently modifying a custom connection is a huge nightmare (as  Steel LOD400 ) but i can give you a workaround:

> think to not to modify your element but "replace" it

you can re-create plates/bolts next to your beam and when you're ready, set plates/bolts at the good location

Then edit your custom connection and :

> remove old parts from your connection

> add new parts to your connection

it can be few messy especially for overlapping parts, but in these cases i set visual replacement before to use my workaround (ex: new correct part are set to green)

With this workaround, all instance of your connection are kept and updated with new components.

but sorry currently you cannot just edit parts in custom connections.

you can create an idea for this (searched but did not find any reference of this limitation)
