Modeling existing structure using a large point cloud scan

I've been asked to model some existing structures using a large point cloud. So far, it's been going well but I have noticed how much slower my computer is working with this much data. The linked file is roughly 30 GB. My machine specifications are as follows:

I7-7700

64GB Ram

512GB SSD

GTX 1060 6GB VRAM

Here is my question. Based on these specs., which component should I consider upgrading to decrease to slow response time I have in Revit? I ask this because everything I've read, so far, points to either the CPU or the GPU. It seems like it depends on who you ask. And, when I say slow response time, visually, everything is slow to respond. There is a 2 or so second pause between commands. Not to mention the point cloud slow refresh rate.

Now, I know someone will say, "Purchase a Quadro card". I am willing to do this but I would like to see real-world benchmark results before I can justify that expense.

 Anyone? Thanks!

GPUs and Solid state drives help.

Working local and not over a network connection helps a lot.

Point clouds are going to make any system work hard... use them sparingly and turn them off every chance you get.

Sometimes RECAP for measurements or looking around and then just modeling in Revit is more helpful.

You can't always SEE everything as well in the Revit model with point cloud applied.

use the view box to limit the clouds visibility outside of areas your working in and see inside a building by level.

Even if you turn them off in a view, each time you CUT a section or a detail the point cloud will appear.

Cut section/detail, turn off point cloud with view, visibility/graphics once you have used it.

Try to not have it active in any view that doesn't need it.

Once you have the data, Unload the point could (It can be reloaded later if needed.)
