I've been asked to model some existing structures using a large point cloud. So far, it's been going well but I have noticed how much slower my computer is working with this much data. The linked file is roughly 30 GB. My machine specifications are as follows:
I7-7700
64GB Ram
512GB SSD
GTX 1060 6GB VRAM
Here is my question. Based on these specs., which component should I consider upgrading to decrease to slow response time I have in Revit? I ask this because everything I've read, so far, points to either the CPU or the GPU. It seems like it depends on who you ask. And, when I say slow response time, visually, everything is slow to respond. There is a 2 or so second pause between commands. Not to mention the point cloud slow refresh rate.
Now, I know someone will say, "Purchase a Quadro card". I am willing to do this but I would like to see real-world benchmark results before I can justify that expense.
Anyone? Thanks!
