Linked Mechanical Model being moved

We have several people working in our structural model at the same time - our problem is that the mechanical model that is linked into the structural model keeps getting moved and causes problems across the board.  I know that you can pin the model in the structural model and that will help a little but is there a better way to keep the linked in model from accidentally being moved or even keep it from being moved at all?

Ideally pinning and then ensuring the Selections Tools are deactivated to prevent Selection or Dragging should suffice

Another alternative would be to consider placing the links on a Workset and have that Workset checked out by a non-project ‘user’. The username is derived from the Autodesk Account login, however account administrators should be able to setup a Revit user alias for administration purposes.

Users should be able to see the elements on Linked Files & Site Model Worksets, but until they are relinquished only the owner can alter that part of the model.

Might be a silly question and I might not be thinking things thru but would the linked model update for the users if it is modified and sync and they sync and reload?

I would assume so as you are making a change then Syncing back to the Central Model and when they sync with Central it should apply changes.

I spoke with my manager about all your suggestions and he agreed except that placing it on its own workset with a sole owner would lock others out of being able to update that model which still needs to be continuously updated. We have reminded everyone to pin so hopefully that will help.  Thank you for your suggestions.
