How to model this tubular node connection in Revit based on AutoCAD detail?

Hi all,
In my Revit model, the roof members (CHS/steel framing) do not connect cleanly, there is a visible gap at the joint end cut. In the AutoCAD design detail, these members meet continuously with no opening.

What is the best way to fix this in revit?

are you making fabrication level model? If not, I would not worry about it - i would clean it up in the section/detail using some masking regions and linework. You will run into too many issues with how revit handles when beams join - and that will become even more complex in a complex connection like you show.

you would need to use the Steel Tab > Modification Tools

In this example I used a Mitre between the 2 Elements which can be edited.  there are possibly other Modifier Tools which may be a better fit

Thanks for your advice! I’m a student working on my graduation project. This steel structure part is quite new to me, so I’m looking for a simple and clear solution that is easy to present on the drawings. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Jay,
I tried using Miter as you suggested and it fixed the issue — thank you very much!

One more question: my horizontal bracing members were created using the Beam tool. When I connect the beam to the column, Revit snaps the connection to the column centerline, so the two beam ends end up overlapping/penetrating each other (their edges clash). Is there a recommended way to make the beams meet cleanly (avoid overlap), e.g.?

Also, do you have any recommended approach for the roof truss-to-column node connection like in my attached detail?

Thanks again!

You could try Attaching the column top using the Attach Top/Base too and edit the setting in the Options Bar
