I received a model made with Dynamo where I have a wall, it is in the wall category, but it is not a wall, how is it done?

When selecting the wall, only this button is activated.

the foundation is the same.

Looks like a DirectShape

"DirectShape is not a replacement for "real" Wall, Roof, Window, etc. It would typically be used where there is not enough information to create, e.g., a Wall, or full functionality of a Wall object is not needed. Some category-specific functionality may be available. If you need to modify a shape held by a DirectShape object, use Revit Geometry API, and then store the modified shape back to the DirectShape object."

I think in that instance highlighted it likely could have been an actual wall unless that element is doing something exceptional outside the scope of that image.

It could be a Model-In-Place "Component", categorized as a Wall.  Essentially its an extruded shape, that is told be behave like a Wall.

If it came from Dynamo then it isn't likely to be an in-place family since I believe that the API has no way of creating those. Also would have 'Edit In-Place' on the modify tab.

I guess it doesn't really matter either way the result is the same.

Dynamo has limitations 😱.... LOL.

didn't realize Dynamo couldn't do In Place components, Interesting... good to know though 👍.

Yes can never rule out that someone has found a way of doing something that isn't supported by the API but generally wouldn't be possible.

There is an example of an add-in which 'protects' Family content in a project, likely by manipulating the Revit file directly outside of the API but that is quite an extreme example.

I think it is a Direct Shape as well.  You cannot alter it, except maybe create parts, turn on parts grips, and modify it.
