Sometimes, I have framing plans that ask for (2) 2X's beams/joist/headers.. I haven't modeled this properly in the past, I will typically just model one 2x family and rename the family to make it show and annotate what I want in plan view. I mostly did this because I dont know how to show in plan view one line that represented the beam but the model would actually have 2 joist members.
