Don't want concrete beam extrude through roof?

sectionA_4S7.JPGMy version sectionA_4S7.JPG

Here is the problem, I am trying to create the drawing like the plan on left. But my rectangular concrete beam extruded out of the roof. I have tried to cut it by changing material type from concrete to other, and using reference plane (cannot cut through concrete unless material type change). However, all my walls and beam would become unjoined/unconnected. How should I do it?

Create a void in a generic family and cut the beam.

I see that you are placing reinforcement in the roof, which cannot host reinforcement, so it's best to model it as an inclined floor.

You can do this with a slope arrow while sketching the floor

or

By modifying the floor sub elements and adjusting the height of floor edges

The result should look like this:

Attaching to top/base works for columns and walls
