Is it possible or necessary to create a project template that carries all the features of Architectural / Structural / Construction / Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing / Systems / any other template.

The Multi-discipline Template does this.

I get your point.....however some clarifications :

1. Many Rebars - 6mm/8mm/12mm/20mm required as per Indian standards are missing. How do I fetch these rebars....

2. In which view do I create the Grids & Levels.

3. How to customize the initial view pane.

Do they have a Multi-Discipline Template for Indian Content?
We have gone over this a few times now, Templates are not going to include everything so you either import them from using the Insert Tab method and using loadable Content or Transfer from another project with them in!

You can save this Project as a Template File for future use!

The Grids and Levels be applicable to all Template Views as you are working in one project so it does not matter what discipline you are in or a view!

You can Right Click on the Project Browser and Edit the View organiser  based on your exact needs there are lots of help on this!

I personally would keep them all separate and link them all together!

I to think having separate template files for each discipline is the way to go. _IF_ you were only doing very small projects, would I maybe consider having a multi-discipline file - and even at that it might be too difficult for new users to use. They will spend way too much time searching for something. Keep it simple.

So I will create the structure 1st with all rebars, next I will initiate an architectural template & link the structural file to finish the brick wall and plaster & other finish. Next I will move on to Plumbing template.....like this ..

But I am facing an issue by this method:

The levels created in the Structural template file is automatically getting visible in the Architectural template file , however these levels are not appearing in the Project Browser of the Architectural Template file. Not even from View>Floor Plans

Also the 2 default levels of the Architectural template are present in the linked file making the view unpleasant.

Further the levels imported from the structural template file are not allowing to edit the grid markers...

Pls advise

Since your original question has been answered, and you accepted a solution, for the benefit of the forums please start a new thread in the future.

Please make sure you are also using the correct terminology. There are Template files (Arch, Structural, etc.). With these Template files (RTE) you then start new Revit Project RVT) files. Do NOT work in Template files, only in Project files.

With grids and levels from linked files, this is where have Workshared files really helps. And Levels and Grids should be on the "Shared Levels and Grids" workset. This allows users to turn off all levels and grids from the linked model in ALL views as opposed to turning them off in each view.  In the Manage Links tool at the bottom left-hand side of the dialog box is a button to manage worksets. Click on that to turn off the grids and levels from the linked model(s).

As for the grids, it is best to determine who is in charge of the grids. Is the architect in charge, or the structural engineer? The grids are then modeled in that discipline project and then when linked inth other projects, is when the Copy Monitor process used. Only after you Copy and Monitor grids from one model to another is then how you can control the extents. Once again, making sure everything is on the Shared Levels and Grids workset.
