Connecting steel beam and column using cap plate

I have Revit 2017, and I need a UB connected to the UC using a cap plate. But there's no option of cap plates and I've tried using end plates connections but they cut my beam in half. What can I do?

Hello Qiaochu,

You can model a steel connections between the beam and the column using the following 2 connection types:

- Gable wall end plate

- Moment end plate

To install Steel Connections for Revit, please see following link:

SOLVED!!!  You must select the beam as the primary element in a Structural Connection.

I would not called this solved rather "Worked Around".

3rd party add ins had cap, top and end plates working perfectly back in 2010.

Why this is not included in a 2017 and 2018 releases is beyond me.

Autodesk, you need to create a section in your website call "Work Arounds" for all the basic stuff made difficult.
