Can't draw structural beam on structural plan.

Hi,

I started using a different template then I used to work with in the past. But in this new template I'm not able to draw a structural beam on a structural plan.

I never had such a problem with the old template I used.

When I'm working on a structural plan and I want to draw a beam I get following pop up:

Because of this I have to draw my beams on a normal floor plan where it is still possible to draw a beam.

Does anyone have any idea/suggestion how to resolve this problem?

There are several reasons why you get this pop up when trying to model a beam in a plan. The most probable is that that the current workplane set for the view is not adequate for the family you are using. In your case, “none” appears to be assigned to the view.  

The simplest thing to try is to select the level from the drop drown using the “name” selection radio button.

You need to set the work plane by name for each level and click "OK".

You should now be able to draw your beams.

It works and if I saved the project, closed it and started working on it again it still worked!
