Beam surface visibility - Help

Currently I am working on changing our office Revit standards.

At the moment we are showing all beams as a Dash dot linetype (to match our Autocad drawings) with the detail level being course. We are considering showing the actual sizes of beams to help highlight slab openings/edges in relation to beam sizes.

We are also playing around with the idea of showing steel beams as bright colours to make it easier to see steel beams on print outs.

I've attached a image to show my issue. Some beams simply will not change surface colour, making it difficult to see them on plan

I've tried changing the:

  • Materials Graphics and appearance
  • visibility/graphic overrides
  • Override Graphics in view
  • Graphics display options
  • detail level

None of which seems to change the colour of the circled steel beams to match the others. However some I noticed if redrawn they would show up orange, but not all beams this worked.

Kind of stuck and not sure what else to try.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

When you are dealing with the solid you have to set according to subcategory i.e. do the white ones come from different families with different structural framing sub category names?

Are they manually set with transparency or with surface patterns hidden. Things such as this may also be the reason.

There are kind of a myriad of possibilities to explain that so unless you link the model here I don't know if you'll get an immediate answer. i.e. some people have even set hidden lines to solid and covered over framing with non-transparent slabs or other objects in certain areas but that doesn't look like your case.

I think you have a filter working for these beams.
