Attach the bases of structural columns to isolated foundations

Why When attaching the bases of structural columns to isolated foundations, the columns attach to the topmost surface of the foundation where the geometry of each element meets 🤔 ???

for example I want the  steel column extends ( 3 ft ) to the footing like pictures but impossible

Is it necessary to have a column attached?

YOu could just 1) attch it to the Footing

2) Detach it (so you have an exact base of the top of the surface

3) Adjust Base Offset to be -3ft below the top most surface of the foundation
3a) You can also use the option "Offset From Attachment"

You could also - simply Lock the Foundation to a Level using Align & Lock and then Edit the Column Base Offset

"An attached structural foundation will be moved to the bottom of the column" when adjusting column ...
